History of MCP

Apartment Buildings

Carl Mayer formed what would eventually become Mayer Capital Partners in 1990. His extensive background in third party real estate asset management and services evolved into founding and/or owning several pension fund-backed real estate investment firms. Carl’s companies secured over $500 million in equity and managed over $2.5 billion of assets.

Recognizing the fundamental changes in the early 90’s real estate capital markets, and armed with extensive institutional relationships, Carl saw an opportunity to create a premier real estate investment banking firm. He formed The Mayer Group in 1990 that evolved into Mayer Capital Partners in 1998. The Company was founded on the premise that newly pooled institutional equity coveted local real estate operating partners (see A Primer on Institutional Equity Capital). Since its inception, MCP’s sole business has been accessing institutional joint venture capital for its clients.

Alan Steinkamp joined Mayer Capital Partners in 1998 as a principal. Alan brings extensive “buy side” experience in institutional real estate investment advisory and management. The Company continued its growth with the addition of Greg Pollard to the team in 2001. Greg’s background includes work in real estate investment advisory and capital placement services.

The Company expanded its United States base of operation in 1999 to include investment of U.S. based capital in Western, Central, and Eastern Europe and more recently Mexico. Through its European affiliate, MCP is involved in select markets throughout that region.
